Self-charging hybrid

What is a self-charging hybrid?

A self-charging hybrid combines an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and battery but doesn't need to be plugged in to charge.

The battery is automatically charged through the engine's power and, sometimes, regenerative braking.

Unlike plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), self-charging hybrids do not require external charging.
