Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)

What is a battery electric vehicle?

A battery electric vehicle (BEV) uses the electrical energy from rechargeable batteries to power an electric motor (or motors).

This is instead of a conventional internal combustion engines (ICEs) that uses petrol or diesel fuel.

There are no exhaust emissions, so they create no pollution directly.

The batteries are recharged using a charger, which can come from a domestic electricity supply or a special charging unit on a street or in a public place such as a car park or motorway service area.
