Differential

What is a differential?

A differential is a mechanical component in a car's drivetrain that allows the wheels to rotate at different speeds, particularly when turning.

Its job is to make sure the vehicle is as smooth and efficient when handling.

It does this by distributing engine torque to the wheels, compensating for the differences in distance travelled by the inner and outer wheels when turning a corner or roundabout, for example.
