Centre console

The centre console is the area in the middle of the dashboard, and often continues down to meet the transmission tunnel that runs between the driver and front passenger seats where your gearstick is. It contains the buttons and switches for operating most of the car’s functions, and today usually also includes the display for the fancy infotainment system.
